Did Your Vote Count?

 The political season is over now

We sure did hear many promises

They came with polished English

Rehearsed speeches and slogans

They even quoted the Bible or Quran

On top of fuel guzzlers they lied

Some swore,even for Wanjiku they can die

And we cheered them like heroes who've conquered a war

Yet all they had done was squander our taxes.

Funny how we throw reason away during elections

With greed and short sightedness we forsake future generations

Just for our immediate gratification 

We hope against hope that things will change

Yet our choices beat logic.

So the time for retrospection is now!

Are you happy with the choices you made?

Would you make the same choice again?

Did your vote count?

Vote?

 

 

 It is a patriotic act

A democratic right

They say...

When asking for your vote

We become one nation

One people under God,

Before results are announced.

Then Boom!

The winner is declared

The disappearing act begins

Their phone numbers are off

Their car windows tinted

You, the voter

Become a bother

These WANANCHI...

They don't understand economics!

They grumble.

Arrogantly they despipse you

After they are paid handsomely

With your taxes.

Vote?

Love & Marriage

 

We love 

We hurt

We laugh

We cry 

We heal

We love again

And life goes on.

We choose our partners

We commit to strangers

We become friends,lovers

And maybe life partners.

It takes courage to trust

It takes faith to love

A moment to propose

A day to wed

And a lifetime to stay in marriage.

What Defines You!

Your status!

Where do you find true identity?

Human beings are dynamic

We are constantly changing

Growing.

Always learning

And,

Unlearning.

Never let people define you

Live your truth

Believe in yourself

Trust that you're a unique creature

Beautifully and wonderfully made.

Change to better yourself

Not to please fellow humans

Listen to all

But just take in what suits you.

After all it's your life.

Always remember,

Choices have consequences.

Take responsibility for your actions. 

Live and let live.

Abstract Thoughts!

 The flow of words is inconsistent

Nothing is ever constant

Though change is said to be constant

Is this an abstract statement?

We recreate ideas in our minds 

To suit our nascent demands

Who should give the commands

Sometimes I have nothing to write about

I just let the mind wander 

And let the fingers type

Whatever thought flows

Who says there should be rules for everything?

Rules are there to control humans

To colonize our thoughts

And curtail our ambitions

But again some rules create order.

Stability.

Continuity.

These rules, we can follow.

If we must.

What Is Life?

Pause for a moment and think about life!

What really makes you tick?

In fact the question is... what's life?

Is it an abstract concept?

A philosophy?

A theory?

Or,

Life is just life.

Life is now...

The breath we have

The joy we feel

The pain we experience

Life is the thoughts...

That occupy our minds

The emotions..

That we feel

The biases we create

Our belief systems

Ideological alignments

Form part of our lives

Life is the sum total of our choices

Therefore,

Live free
