Contemporary poetry is a diverse and constantly evolving genre that encompasses a wide range of styles, themes, and forms. In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in poetry, with many poets using their work to explore social, political, and personal issues. One of the defining characteristics of contemporary poetry is its focus on the individual experience. Understanding
Understanding, a priceless gem, A virtue that we all should stem. To comprehend, to see with grace, And empathize with every face.
To listen without judgement's ear, And open up our hearts sincere. To bridge the gap of difference, And find the common ground's essence.
To see the world with empathy, And walk the paths of destiny. To understand the joys and pains, Of all who walk this mortal plain.
To reach beyond our own confines, And seek to know what's in their minds. To see the world with clear intent, And treat each other with respect.
Understanding, a gentle breeze, That brings us closer to our peace. A treasure that is always sought, And never is it sold or bought.
Let us strive to understand,
And live in harmony in this land.
For understanding is the key, To unlocking all humanity

People Issues
People issues, oh people issues,
They come in all shapes and all sizes.
Some are big and some are small,
But they all can make us feel so small.
The way we talk, the things we say,
Can hurt someone in such a way,
That scars may last for years to come,
And we may never know what we've done.
We fight and argue, point and blame,
And sometimes we forget why we came.
Together, as one, we can achieve so much,
But it takes understanding and a gentle touch.
We all have struggles, we all have pain,
But it's important to remember to refrain,
From judging or hurting those we meet,
For we never know what they may be facing on the street.
So let's be kind, let's be fair,
Let's show compassion and that we care.
People issues, oh people issues,
Can be resolved when we share tissues.
Let's work together, let's unite,
And make this world a better sight.
For people issues may come and go,
But with love and kindness, we can grow.

Contemporary Art: A Poem
Contemporary poetry, a wonder to behold,
A reflection of the world, both new and old,
It speaks of love, of pain, of life's many twists,
And leaves us with thoughts that cannot be dismissed.
In words and phrases, it paints a picture,
Of a world that's complex, full of wonder and censure,
It's raw and real, and it makes us feel,
All the emotions that we thought were unreal.
Contemporary poetry, a voice of the times,
It speaks of injustice, of social divides,
It challenges norms and seeks to redefine,
The boundaries of what we consider fine.
It's not just words, but a work of art,
It's a window to the soul, a reflection of the heart,
It's a tapestry of life, woven with care,
A reminder that we all have stories to share.
So let us embrace this art form anew,
Let us explore the worlds that it brings into view,
Let us listen to the voices that echo within,
And find in them a new way to begin.

Where is Your Hope?
Hope is the anchor of the soul,
A steadfast refuge in life's toll,
And in the Bible, we find the goal,
Of a hope that fills us whole.
For God's promises are true,
And in them, we find hope anew,
In times of trouble and despair,
God's word lifts us from the snare.
Like the rainbow after the flood,
Or the manna given in the wilderness wood,
God's provision and love endure,
And in them, we find hope secure.
And in the ultimate sacrifice,
Of Jesus on the cross, we realize,
That our hope is not in vain,
For in His resurrection, we gain,
A hope that death cannot destroy,
A hope that fills our hearts with joy,
For in Christ, we have eternal life,
And in Him, we find hope that's rife.
So let us hold fast to the hope we profess,
For in it, we find God's faithfulness,
And as we journey through life's scope,
May our hope in Christ forever be our hope.

Human Vices
We all have flaws and imperfections,
That lead us down the path of vices.
Greed, anger, lust, and pride,
Our downfall, these are often sided.
Greed clouds our judgement with desire,
For wealth and power that never tire.
We reach and grasp, but never find,
The happiness and peace of mind.
Anger and hatred, like a fire,
Burns within and takes us higher.
Blinding us to reason and right,
It leads us to endless night.
Lust for pleasure, for flesh and fame,
Drives us to play a never-ending game.
We search for love in all the wrong places,
Ignoring the beauty in familiar faces.
Pride, the deadliest of all vices,
Blinds us to our own limitations.
We believe we're better than the rest,
Forgetting that we too are blessed.
These vices are the demons within,
The source of pain, sorrow and sin.
They lead us away from what's true,
And rob us of the good we can do.
It is only through self-reflection,
That we can learn to take correction.
We must face our vices head on,
And let our better selves shine upon.
For it's never too late to change,
To rid ourselves of these vices strange.
And live
our lives with grace and peace,

Gratitude
With a grateful heart, I say
I'm thankful for each day
That brings me health and strength to bear
And all the blessings that I share.
I'm thankful for my loving family
Who stands by me, come what may
Their support and love, a constant beam
Bringing me joy, peace, and a peaceful dream.
My friends, oh what a treasure trove
Their laughter, wit, and joy I adore
Together, we create memories untold
Of laughter, love, and stories old.
A career that challenges and grows
And provides for all my earthly woes
I'm thankful for the opportunities
That help me fulfill my responsibilities.
And lastly, I'm grateful for provision
That keeps me fed, clothed, and in good condition
I give thanks for all that I possess
And pray for grace to do my best.

What Is Life?

Not Again Kenyans
The season is here, of political nuisance
Again they've come without substance
And we, foolishly, give them an audience
Clearly, we didn't learn from the last instance
They gave empty promises, we listened
Promises on previous promises we listened
The same monkeys have resurrected
With same old lies, now well perfected
They have no shred of decency
How to get votes is their emergency
As they shrewdly court sycophancy
Even if it means tearing up democracy
It's astonishing how we always give them an audience
And allow them to insult our intelligence
Don't we have a little credence?
Are we slowly succumbing to cognitive dissonance?
We have become politically pathetic
Devoid of any substantive critic
All we do is social media gimmick
We have another perfect opportunity
To put to test our and their integrity
We must check and recheck their credibility
We cannot afford another regime built on dishonesty
The time is now, for all of us to rise
Declare and make a personal promise
To end the perennial politics of demise
And embrace a new dawn of progress
To the youth, our tomorrow is now!
Each must make a solemn vow
That, to the old goons we won't bow
Because we need political power now
We must take charge of our present
Press for a seat in the government
And have a meaningful engagement

Corona Virus
What is this Corona virus?
Many still wonder!
Where are you from? Wuhan? Italy?
So many tales have been told...
About your origin!
Some say you were in manufactured in a lab
Oooh! Or Did you come from a bat?
Are you be a bio weapon?
Conspiracy theories have flooded the web
Each person have their truth!
Bill wants to control the world!
The New World Order; they say!
It's just a matter of time,
Before mandatory vaccination is declared.
One thing is for sure though:
You've changed our lives forever.

MY LOVE
My thoughts are of you dear one
A kind of love that transcends all other emotion.
My heart yearn for you every moment.
My mind cannot get enough of you
Your smile and laughter brighten my dull days
Holding you in my arms give me erotic satisfaction
Lying next to you satisfies my wildest dreams
I love you with all my heart
I cherish you my dear one
I need you beside me every day

A Failed Nation
The symptoms are more clear now
The centre can no longer hold
Our nation is at deathbed
The nation is failing
Corrutption is the new normal
In some quarters even formal
Being honest is now abnormal
The nation is failing
Integrity is no longer desired
But rather openly disdained
"Our time to eat" is glorified
The nation is failing
Amorphous and ficticious projects
Man made shortages and conflicts
Have been the government edicts
The nation is failing
