Hope

Hope is the anchor of the soul,

A steadfast refuge in life's toll,

And in the Bible, we find the goal,

Of a hope that fills us whole.

For God's promises are true,

And in them, we find hope anew,

In times of trouble and despair,

God's word lifts us from the snare.

Like the rainbow after the flood,

Or the manna given in the wilderness wood,

God's provision and love endure,

And in them, we find hope secure.

And in the ultimate sacrifice,

Of Jesus on the cross, we realize,

That our hope is not in vain,

For in His resurrection, we gain,

A hope that death cannot destroy,

A hope that fills our hearts with joy,

For in Christ, we have eternal life,

And in Him, we find hope that's rife.

Let us hold fast to the hope we profess,

For in it, we find God's faithfulness,

And as we journey through life's scope,

May our hope in Christ forever be our hope.

Self-Control

Self-control, a virtue to behold,

A strength to keep the soul from getting cold,

To reign in impulses that run wild,

And choose a path that's gentle, meek, and mild.

The Bible speaks of this trait so dear,

It teaches us to control our fear,

To master our desires and our tongue,

And walk the path of righteousness, among.

In Proverbs, we read of self-control,

A jewel that's worth more than gold,

For it brings peace to a troubled heart,

And guides the soul to a brand-new start.

Paul, too, spoke of this noble trait,

And urged us to practice it, before it's late,

For it leads to a life that's pure and true,

A life that's pleasing to God, anew.

Self-control, a fruit of the Spirit,

A gift that brings us joy and merit,

So let us practice it, day by day,

And let our light shine, in every way.

International Women’s Day

On this day of international acclaim,

We honor women who have made their name,

In every corner of the earth they reside,

They have fought for equality with pride.

From the mothers who nurture our lives,

To the leaders who change the world's tides,

Women have proven their worth and might,

And shattered the glass ceiling with their fight.

From the activists who speak up for change,

To the scientists who cure diseases so strange,

Women have shown their skills and aptitude,

And proved that they deserve respect and gratitude.

On this day of International Women's Day,

Let us celebrate the achievements and say,

That women deserve to be treated equal,

With respect, dignity, and no sequel.

So let us unite to celebrate this day,

And recognize the women in every way,

Who have made a difference, big or small,

And continue to break barriers and stand tall.

Stranger Than Fiction (Kenya)

My Kenya never disappoints, every day is a new episode!

More like an episode in a thriller movie, sometimes it's horrific!

We listen to the news with great anticipation

Sometimes on the edge of our seats

Like we watching a horror movie.

Anything, and I mean anything can happen.

How unfathomable is it that doctors strike for protective gear!

A governor is impeached by 'his friends' while on retreat! With them.

A man eat man society. A bandit economy indeed.

Supply of air to govt is paid without due diligence!

A passerby is awarded multi million tender! Just walking by!

Prices of commodities go up despite government subsidies.

Warped thinking and misplaced priorities.

We have an acute shortage of responsible leaders

But plenty of unscrupulous, selfish and individualistic characters

Individuals whose utterances defy all the tenets of morality.

Indeed strange things happen in this country

Stranger than fiction.

Resilience

Resilience is the strength to endure,

To persevere when life's storms obscure,

And in the Bible, we find the cure,

The hope and faith that makes us sure.

Moses, with his people, faced the sea,

With Pharaoh's army fast in pursuit,

But through God's power, they were set free,

And safely passed to the other side of dispute.

Job, who lost all his wealth and kin,

Still praised God, and did not give in,

For he knew that his Redeemer lived,

And in His love, he could still thrive.

David, a man after God's own heart,

Faced many battles, both fierce and smart,

But he trusted in the Lord's might,

And overcame his enemies with light.

Paul, who suffered for the gospel's sake,

Was beaten, jailed, and left to quake,

But he rejoiced in his affliction,

Knowing that it served a higher mission.

Resilience is not just about being tough,

It's about faith, hope, and love that's enough,

To trust in God, who's faithful and true,

And to cling to His promises anew.

For He's the rock that we can lean on,

The strength that helps us to carry on,

And with Him, we can face any trial,

With resilience that never goes viral.

People Issues

People issues, oh people issues,

They come in all shapes and all sizes.

Some are big and some are small,

But they all can make us feel so small.

The way we talk, the things we say,

Can hurt someone in such a way,

That scars may last for years to come,

And we may never know what we've done.

We fight and argue, point and blame,

And sometimes we forget why we came.

Together, as one, we can achieve so much,

But it takes understanding and a gentle touch.

We all have struggles, we all have pain,

But it's important to remember to refrain,

From judging or hurting those we meet,

For we never know what they may be facing on the street.

So let's be kind, let's be fair,

Let's show compassion and that we care.

People issues, oh people issues,

Can be resolved when we share tissues.

Let's work together, let's unite,

And make this world a better sight.

For people issues may come and go,

But with love and kindness, we can grow.

Contemporary Art: A Poem

Contemporary poetry, a wonder to behold,

A reflection of the world, both new and old,

It speaks of love, of pain, of life's many twists,

And leaves us with thoughts that cannot be dismissed.

In words and phrases, it paints a picture,

Of a world that's complex, full of wonder and censure,

It's raw and real, and it makes us feel,

All the emotions that we thought were unreal.

Contemporary poetry, a voice of the times,

It speaks of injustice, of social divides,

It challenges norms and seeks to redefine,

The boundaries of what we consider fine.

It's not just words, but a work of art,

It's a window to the soul, a reflection of the heart,

It's a tapestry of life, woven with care,

A reminder that we all have stories to share.

So let us embrace this art form anew,

Let us explore the worlds that it brings into view,

Let us listen to the voices that echo within,

And find in them a new way to begin.
